Mountain Peaks

MOUNTAIN PEAKS

                                                  You

                                       lead me to                       peaks

where       the heavens condense,   dropping dew

like honey, shrouding the world in mystery. I cannot see

my feet, but I feel the warm rock beneath my sole, unchanging.

You steady           my endless spinning            and call me to quiet

trust.             Then,            at last, the      vapor’s                veil breaks.

The scene unfolds                      like a love letter,

each word revealing glory      on glory. I see the path my feet took

where I shook in shadow vales, tired on the slopes, and almost turned

                               back.   But you were

                         with me

                  even there.

                          And now

                                     I kneel

                                             beside

                                                     a crystal

                                                                 spring

                                                    flowing from

                                    the rock who was

               struck—split open for me.

And so I drink abundantly.
