Bound For Zion

by Amber North

BOUND FOR ZION

My heart knows I’m

bound for Zion—

the mountain dressed

in majestic splendor.

But lately my mind wonders

if I’ll ever get there.

There is a spiritual tension,

and it craves to bind my soul.

Even though Christ

has set me free,

doubts roam the earth,

trying to convince me

I’m still captive—

that my treasure

is vulnerable to thieves.

I keep getting tangled up

in all the what-ifs.

The weeds of my flesh

try to strangle me

and gradually,

that glorious Mount Zion

seems but a figment

of my imagination.

The world scoffs at my hope,

and I begin to believe

there may be truth in

their tone.

But even in those places

where the air feels stripped

of its moisture on a dreary day,

where that mountaintop

looks too far away,

Christ finds me there.

He establishes my steps

and encourages me

to keep climbing.

That golden city

is my inheritance,

as a co-heir with Jesus.

I will enter its gates,

in His perfect timing.
